Xiaomi is about the get everyone excited with their upcoming flagship handset. Following the naming scheme that the Xiaomi flagship devices have, the successor for the current flagship the Mi4 would be the Mi5. If you were not thrilled when Xiaomi released the Mi4, which is unlike the Mi3 that lived so well into the hype, then the Mi5 promised to bring out the best that the company could give with their flagship device.

Though not yet revealed by Xiaomi, there were rumors of the handset floating around the net for some time already with alleged leaked image of the handset back in November showing a super thin bezels that captivated everyone, and just a few days ago, rumors suggested that Xiaomi’s upcoming flagship will be sold at around US$325 SIM-free. Rumors like these comes often straight from the facts and if that’s the case then it would be supported by users just like when Mi3 came out.

According to telecom analyst Sun Chiangxu, Xiaomi will include high-end specs to the Mi5, that being said, Chiangxu believed that the handset will have at least a 5.7-inch display with a 1440 x 2560 resolutions, it will be powered by the latest 64-bit Quad-core Snapdragon 810 processor from Qualcomm with the new Adreno 430 GPU. Coincidentally, Qualcomm is set to make the new chipset available by early next year and Xiaomi seems to be just right on time to include them for their upcoming flagship device making it as one of the first to ship devices with the new processor next year.

It is also foreseen by Chiangxu that a 20.7 Megapixel Sony Exmor sensor for the main camera is making its way to the Mi5, also the possibility for the company to include a fingerprint scanner is expected as it is becoming a common necessity to include this feature in most flagship devices.

As CES draws closer, Xiaomi is anticipated to unveil the handset by next month the earliest as they are about to showcase a number of new devices during the CES 2015 in Las Vegas by January next year. If the rumors are true then well expect thin bezels and power pumping flagship device during the event and with the practical price for the handset that Xiaomi is setting, we’ll expect it to capture the attention of US mobile users as well.
