Xiaomi officially launched the new Mi 10 Youth 5G with Periscope lens

Xiaomi today officially announced the new Xiaomi Mi 10 Youth 5G, a variant of the company’s flagship device which features the company’s first periscope equipped camera.

The Xiaomi Mi 10 Youth 5G is built around a 6.57-inch AMOLED panel and comes with an in-display fingerprint sensor and a display notch. The display features a full-HD+ resolution and though it doesn’t have a 90Hz refresh rate as its brothers, it got a 180Hz touch sampling rate though.

The new handset is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G chipset and sport 5G connectivity. It also comes with either 6GB or an 8GB of system RAM and a choice of storage from 64GB and up to 256GB.

The camera on the front is a 16 Megapixel shooter that sits on the notch and supports a variety of AI-powered functions and filters for photos and videos.

On the back, the camera gets the same module as the Mi 10 Lite 5G but the 8 Megapixel sensor on the Mi 10 Youth 5G is upgraded with a periscope lens capable of up to 5x optical zoom and 50x of hybrid zoom.

The main sensor remains the same as the Mi 10 Lite 5G with a 48 Megapixel 1/2″ sensor behind a 6P lens with an f/1.79 Aperture. There’s also an 8 Megapixel sensor with a f/2.2 Aperture Ultra Wide angle lens and lastly a 2 Megapixel macro shooter with a 2-10 cm working distance.

The main camera module is supported by AI with different functions and filters both for photos and videos. It comes with Super Night Scene 2.0 for very dark situations and also supports 4K video recording up to 30fps and super fast slow motion video recording up to 960fps in 720p.

The embedded battery is rated at 4,160 mAh and supports 22.5W fast charging which Xiaomi is shipping the handset with the same max rated charging brick for it in the box.

The new Xiaomi Mi 10 Youth 5G will be booting MIUI 11 based on Android 10 out of the box but it should get upgraded to MIUI 12 as soon as it becomes available.

The Mi 10 Youth will be available in these colors: Blue, White, Black, Green, and Orange/Peach. Pre-order is up (At least in China) from Xiaomi’s website with a deposit of CNY100 and is scheduled to make its first flash sale on May 4. Prices starts at CNY2,099 for the 6GB/64GB variant and goes up to CNY2,799 for its top variant with 8GB/256GB configuration.
