Xiaomi has a new flagship phone and it’s the new Mi 8 Pro, similarly looking a lot like the Mi 8 Explorer edition but the new Mi 8 Pro has a better hardware and improved features. The new flagship device brings an in-display fingerprint sensor and IR Face unlock and a semi-transparent back cover with two new color options: Twilight Gold with a gradient design and an Ochre Black.

The Mi 8 Pro comes in two RAM configurations. Users can choose between a 6GB or an 8GB setup with both of which having 128GB of storage as standard and there’s no expansion slot.
The in-display fingerprint scanner is a lot faster on the Mi 8 Pro with unlock speed is said to rose up to 29% from previous implementation with a success rate of more than 8.8% compared to the Mi 8 Explorer.
The handset is built in 7000 Series Aluminum frame sandwiched by Corning Gorilla Glass. It has a 6.2-inch AMOLED display with a Full-HD+ resolution and a notch. It is powered by the same powerful Snapdragon 845 chipset as a regular Mi 8 with Adreno 630 graphics chip.
For snaps, the handset includes a dual 12 Megapixel sensor on the back with one a regular sensor featuring an f/1.8 Aperture lens and a telephoto lens with 2x Optical zoom and an f/2.4 Aperture. both does have an Optical Image Stabilization and is assisted by Dual-LED flash. On the front, a 20 Megapixel sensor with an f/2.0 Aperture lens and these imaging hardware all comes powered by Xiaomi’s own AI technologies.
The new Mi 8 Pro runs on a 3400 mAh battery and boots Android 8.1 Oreo with MIUI 10 on top.
Priced at 3199 Yuan or roughly around $467 and that’s for the 6GB variant while the top model with 8GB RAM retails at 3599 Yuan ($525). These new handsets will be available starting today in China.
