With close to three hundred cases a day, COVID-19 numbers are now at 8,772

DOH released COVID-19 CASE BULLETIN #48 at 16:00H (4:00PM PST) on May 01, 2020.

As the government continues to push its mass testing initiative for COVID-19, so does our counts with 284 new cases recorded today that brings our total number of cases in the Philippines to 8,772.

We have 41 new recoveries recorded today which brings us to 1,084 in total who have recovered from the virus.

As we continue to battle COVID-19, today, we have 11 patients dead from the disease with a total death toll of 579.

COVID-19 was declared by World Health Organization (WHO) as a Pandemic on March 03, 2020 which started in Wuhan, China. The disease is caused by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome – coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV2) with a Flu like symptoms such as Fever, Cough, Colds and in more severe cases Difficulty in Breathing.

There are no vaccines or direct cure for the disease at the moment and the only way to protect ourselves from getting infected is to practise proper and frequent handwashing, avoid touching our face, mouth, nose and eyes. Our health experts as well as the government urged everyone to wear a suitable and effective face mask as much as possible and when outside of our homes.
