WhatsApp is a widely used app on the iPhone, with almost every iPhone user having it installed and using the service on their device. However, Meta the parent company of WhatsApp has stopped supporting older iPhone models as of June 1st.
Currently, the new WhatsApp app on iOS requires at least iOS version 15.1. The following iPhone models are affected:
- iPhone 5s
- iPhone 6
- iPhone 6 Plus
Apple has already discontinued software support for these devices, which has led Meta to also end WhatsApp support for them. Users who are still using these models are advised to upgrade to a newer iPhone if they wish to continue using WhatsApp. The app will also display a warning notification to inform users of the end of support, helping them prepare accordingly.
If you are using a newer iPhone model, simply update your device to the latest iOS version and continue using WhatsApp as usual.
