Vivo unveils its new “OriginOS”: Widgets reimagined

Vivo’s new OriginOS is an overhaul to its proprietary user interface that replaces its current Funtouch OS. The system is based on Android and has reimagined widgets in a whole new way.

The new UI design on OriginOS is inspired from Huarong road, a sliding puzzle with different piece sizes. It focuses heavily on widgets for its desktop (home screen), new visual styles, new gesture controls and memory optimizations.

At a glance, the new UI takes its cues from a combination of Apple iOS elements and perhaps a shot of Windows OS, with its dynamically stylized and interactive tiles. If you’ve used Windows OS before, you’ll find similarities on UI elements.

There’s also a new wallpaper algorithm which Vivo calls Behavioural Wallpaper which simulates complex motions or different projection of colors depending on what’s on screen or in such cases on the current weather situation.

It also features a new Multi-Turbo 5.0, a memory optimization system which just makes everything faster using a technique popularized by Windows OS were the OS swaps data from RAM to the system storage space for hot-swap retrieval of information and data on the fly.
