vivo, as they gain grounds from different markets are also starting keeping their users happy with incremental software updates. But for the last few months, the Chinese firms haven’t had much to say until now. The company announced their upcoming FunTouch OS 3.1 for their devices.
As we all know, manufacturers often labelled their underlying operating system with unique names on their own but the fact is that they generally runs on Android and vivo’s FunTouch OS is no exception and is basically a customized user-interface on top of the underlying software. Current generation FunTouch OS is based on Android 6.0 but beginning with version 3.1, vivo’s proprietary UI will be based on Android 7.1 (Nougat) which brings all the Nougat features to supported vivo devices. Apart from the new built-in features from Nougat, the update will also include a massive aggregates of bug fixes and enhancements that will improve the user experience on vivo devices.
While it’s understandably exciting for such update to pop up but vivo has officially listed the number of devices that would sooner receive the update. First to get the said update will be the vivo X9 Plus on July 18th followed by the vivo X9 toward the end of July. While the update is currently being baked at vivo, the company will seed out random updates to a select of live users of the vivo X9 and X9 Plus as well as Xplay 6. Users may receive the update or decline on them, but if I’d be one of those I’ll definitely jump on.
Here are the list of devices that would get updated first to FunTouch OS 3.1:
- X9 Plus
- X7 Plus
- Xplay5 Elite
- Xplay5 Ultimate
If your device in not it the list, don’t worry as these are just the first wave of devices that vivo is updating, if you are sporting one of the latest vivo devices other than from the list, stay tuned as we uncover the rest of the devices that will be updated to FunTouch OS 3.1.
