Though COVID-19 infection continues, recoveries are also on the rise

The Department of Health (DOH) released COVID-19 Daily Bulletin No. 93 for June 15, 2020 at 4:00 PM. This bulletin reports a total of 490 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 for the day which are detailed below:

Fresh Cases: 348 (NCR: 131 / Region 7: 79 / Others: 138)

Late Cases: 142 (NCR: 21 / Region 7: 5 / Others: 116)

With these numbers together with yesterday’s figure, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country is now at 26,420 with a Death toll of 1098 after 10 new reported deaths were added.

The DOH also reports 298 new recoveries today that is then added to the total number of recoveries which is now at 6,254.

COVID-19 was declared by World Health Organization (WHO) as a Pandemic on March 03, 2020 which started in Wuhan, China. The disease is caused by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome – coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV2) with a Flu like symptoms such as Fever, Cough, Colds and in more severe cases Difficulty in Breathing.

Pharmaceuticals around the world are actively engaged in clinical research, testing and trials for vaccines to eradicate the COVID-19 virus and to conclude their efficacy and effectiveness. As the world awaits for a vaccine for COVID-19, the only way to protect ourselves from getting infected is to practise proper and frequent handwashing, avoid touching our face, mouth, nose and eyes. Our health experts as well as the government urged everyone to wear a suitable and effective face mask as often as possible and when outside of our homes.
