The Philippines COVID-19 death toll is now at 817

DOH released COVID-19 CASE BULLETIN #63 at 16:00H (4:00PM PST) on May 16, 2020.

Today, the Department of Health reports 214 new COVID-19 cases with 147 or 69% are coming from NCR while the rest of the country has 67 new cases or about 31%. Together with the new cases, the country now has 12,605 total number of cases.

We have 101 new recoveries today which account for the 2,561 total recoveries in the Philippines.

While we have recoveries, the country still suffers with rising COVID-19 related deaths with 11 new today that brings our death toll to 817.


COVID-19 was declared by World Health Organization (WHO) as a Pandemic on March 03, 2020 which started in Wuhan, China. The disease is caused by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome – coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV2) with a Flu like symptoms such as Fever, Cough, Colds and in more severe cases Difficulty in Breathing.

There are no vaccines or direct cure for the disease at the moment and the only way to protect ourselves from getting infected is to practise proper and frequent handwashing, avoid touching our face, mouth, nose and eyes. Our health experts as well as the government urged everyone to wear a suitable and effective face mask as much as possible and when outside of our homes.
