HTC One is undeniably one of the sexiest device in 2013 and as the company finally unveiled its successor we couldn’t argue more with what HTC has refined with the design a year later. HTC calls it as the New One or internally known as “M8” and it looks pretty much the same in terms of its signature form. It features the same curved back and upfront features an updated BoomSound speakers grill which is now 25% more louder from the previous generation and is currently the trend that HTC devices are heading plus the gorgeous large touchscreen display.
As compared to it’s predecessor, the New One (M8) features around 90% of aluminum material on its unibody design making it more premium and robust. The plastic grills on the front is no longer there for the new M8 as it is now replaced with aluminum as well. The front camera took a bump and now features a standard 5 Megapixel camera. The screen took an upgrade and brings it to a larger 5-inch display. Touch sensitive panel is now gone as HTC adopted the oncreen back, home and menu buttons, what’s now obvious is that the new One features a larger bezel at the bottom in which different users has different views with it. HTC is much more aware with this feature during the designing process of the device and HTC says that it was intended to give enough space for internals to be cramped inside the device.
On the back, it closely resembles the same back as the first generation HTC One but with more pronounced curves, the same stripes and a camera with flash. The back features an intricate brushed metal design which designers of the device considers it an achievement despite its difficulty on producing them with perfection. Aside from its finish, one thing is for sure is more noticeable on this part is that the new One features a second camera on the back making it having two cameras on the back that works simultaneously whenever users take a shot. It’s primary back camera features the same 4 Megapixel sensor from HTC One with Ultrapixel technology, the second one features a 2 Megapixel sensor. With this setup, the New One can captures images with proper and enhanced depths bringing more life to photos in every shot taken.
Underneath that sleek skin, the new HTC One features a Quad-Core Snapdragon 801 processor running at 2.3GHz with 2GB of RAM, HTC will offer a 16/32/64 GB internal storage variants and will feature a microSD card slot that supports up to 128GB of microSD cards when that internal storage is not enough to cater all the users multimedia needs. it features a 5-inch full HD LCD-3 display and is covered entirely with Gorilla Glass 3.
As standard, the new HTC One will feature common wireless connectivity, it will support LTE and HSPA+ network connections, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, WiFi direct, WiFi hotspot and DLNA, Bluetooth 4.0 with A2DP, NFC and an IR blaster. GPS, A-GPS with GLONASS.
Out of the Box, the new HTC One runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat with HTC Sense 6.0 UI on top. Features an updated homescreen with much more open BlinkFeed, the new One will be powered by a 2,600 mAh battery which is considerably larger and last longer before it takes another recharging as compared to its predecessor.
HTC One will start shipping the handset this April and will be available primarily in three colors : Metal Gray, Silver black and Gold. No words yet on its arrival here in the Philippines but we expected it to arrive soon after the international release takes off.
