Now that Alcatel has one of the new Pixi devices running Windows 10 Mobile, its OneTouch line is getting into the game as well in the form of OneTouch Fierce XL. Like most of the latest Windows 10 mobile devices in the market today, the new handset is designed for the entry-level market.
Despite the name, the new OneTouch Fierce XL isn’t the performer that you’ve waited for a Windows 10 device, instead, the fierceness of the new handset comes from its large phablet-grade 5.5-inch 720p display. Under the hood ticks a Snapdragon 210 quad-core processor running at 1.1 GHz, it roars with 2 GB of RAM and there comes a standard 16 GB of internal storage space with memory expansion slot that accepts microSD cards.
For mobile photography, the handset is equipped with 8 Megapixel autofocus main camera with LED flash, despite the chipsets capabilities, Alcatel limits the handset to capture only 720p videos instead of 1080p for some reasons we don’t know. The front camera is a 2 Megapixel sensor which suite best for basic Selfies and high-resolution video calls.
For connectivity, the new OneTouch Fierce XL is equipped with Cat.4 4G/LTE wireless connectivity as well as support for 3G/HSPA+ and 2G/GSM wireless connection. As for the standard connectivity options, there’s Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1 with A2DP, GPS and USB 2.0 (micro).
Measuring at 151.9 x 77.8 x 9.4 mm, the handset weighs 174 grams including the 2500 mAh battery. Alcatel claims that the Fierce XL should be able to sustain up to 14 hours of talk time but a 3 hours of charging made users to wonder.
Alcatel say the handset will be launching later this month and will only be available in light blue color. The price isn’t known at the moment but Alcatel ensures us that it should have a very affordable price.
