The Galaxy S series has evolved a few times since its inception and with the Galaxy S21 series it did something that’s never done before in the series and that is to support Samsung’s best smartphone component yet.
Samsung has introduced the Ultra series for its flagship device with the Galaxy S20 from last year and this have given Samsung a leeway to incorporate features that’s sort of emphasis on one specific area on its model and this trend continues with the Galaxy S21 series with the Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G.
The Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G takes what’s best from the Galaxy S21+ a notch up or should we say a few notches up as it not only improves in one specific feature but actually about a couple more.
The Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G is built around a 6.8-inch Dynamic AMOLED display and unlike its other siblings, the Ultra variant has dual-edge display and a crisper QHD+ display. Its dynamic refresh rate goes from 120Hz max and down to a minimum of 10Hz. This as you may already know is dependent on what elements are on display. It also supports HDR10+ with 1500nits of brightness and is covered by the new Corning Gorilla Glass Victus.
The new flagship of Samsung’s flagship is also powered by either a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset which is available for specific markets and the Samsung Exynos 2100 for the international market. So unless you are form the US, China or in South Korea, you are most likely to have the Exynos 2100 variant rather than the Snapdragon 888.
For its RAM and storage, the Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G comes with 12GB or 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM where the 12GB variant has a storage options from 128GB or 256GB while the 16GB RAM variant will have a 512GB of storage as standard.
Now the fun part for the Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G are the cameras. different from the Galaxy S21 and the Galaxy S21+, the Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G has a larger camera module on the back which houses four cameras in total. This module includes a 108 Megapixel primary sensor coupled to a 12 Megapixel with Ultra Wide lens. We also have a Telephoto camera, well two of them actually where one provides 3x optical zoom and while the other is equipped with a periscope lens which enables the device to 100x Space Zoom.
The 108 Megapixel on the Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G gets the upgrade it needs from its predecessor with true -to-life details in every shot.
Night mode gets a whole new meaning with the Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G as it intelligently capture multiples images with varying exposure time which are combined together producing a clearer with lesser noise photos and with vivid colors.
Video recording gets users with Pro-level quality and up to 8K in resolution. Video recording is further enhanced by Super Steady feature with a similar quality of an action cam.
The Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G comes with a large 5,000 mAh battery giving users enough power to last a day and even more. It supports up to 25W wired fast charging with USB Power Delivery 3.0. There’s also wireless charging support of up to 15W and reverse wireless charging at 4.5W.
Other features on the Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G is its Ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor which is made to be even more secure and reliable than ever and the reliable IP68 certification for waterproofing. There’s also support for Samsung DeX and Samsung Wireless DeX for a full desktop experience and of course there’s Bixby which comes improved with natural language commands and dictation.
That’s not all, remember what we said from the beginning of this article? Samsung for the first time ever is bringing its S Pen support to the Galaxy S series. That’s right, the beloved S Pen from the Note series gets native support on the Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G so users can perform air-gesture commands and makes hand-written notes.
What’s different thought is that the S Pen is not built into the device, instead it comes as a separate accessory. Together with the standard S Pen, Samsung also launch the new S Pen Pro, with all the functions that the S Pen have but larger a more like a size of a regular pen and works to all other S Pen compatible devices.
The Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G is available in Phantom Black, Phantom Silver, Phantom Titanium, Phantom Navy, Phantom Brown color variants and will be in store shelves by January 29th with pricing starts at US$1,199.
