Sony’s flagship the Xperia 1 unveiled: CinemaWide 4K OLED display and triple cameras
Sony’s recent mobile phone market share may not be as impressive as it was a few years ago but the Japanese company continues to improve and introduce new features to its smartphone lineup. The new Sony Xperia 1 is one of the first to embrace new technologies available.

The new Xperia 1 will replace Sony’s Xperia XZ premium line and features a 6.5-inch OLED display with true-4K resolution and a tall 21:9 aspect ratio CinemaWide display, a first on any mobile devices. The new mobile display uses Sony’s X1-Style image processing from its premium Bravia television together with color calibration form Sonys Profesional Master monitors.
If you might have remembered, Sony had kept itself from trendy multi-camera setups but beginning this year, Sony has fully embrace the idea and to begin with, the Xperia 1 will have three cameras on the back.

All these 3 cameras are of 12 Megapixel each with its primary having a 1/2.6″ sensor with f/1.6 Aperture lens and features OIS+EIS and Dual-Pixel Autofocus. Then another sensor is equipped with a Telephoto lens and the third uses an ultra-wide lens.

Sony also incorporates Eye tracking feature from its α cameras and CineAlta for its Cinema Pro app which let users record Cinema-style video recording at 24fps and comes with color profile and project management features. And then there’s Creator Mode for making videos look as good as in cinema.
On the front, it has a 8 Megapixel camera with an f/2.0 Aperture lens that should be well enough for Selfies and video calls.

The Xperia 1 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 paired with 6GB of RAM. storage are available in 64GB and 128GB with memory expansion support up to 512GB with microSD cards.
It comes with a 3300 mAh embedded battery, though that looks like a little less than we’d expect for a 2019 flagship, Sony offers Smart Stamina mode that fully optimized the handset’s battery consumption and Battery Care a Sony-developed feature that keeps the battery lifespan in check.
Unlike other devices this year, the Sony Xperia 1 will include a traditional fingerprint reader placed at the side of the handset, it’s not part of the powerkey by the way, some would like it and some won’t so it’s a matter of personal preference.

It has IP68 rating as always with a full metal frame and is covered with Corning Gorilla Glass 6 both on the front and back.

Feature-wise, the new Xperia 1 includes Game Enhancer Mode which optimizes both CPU and battery life for smoother and longer gaming experience and access games in one place. With AI, Sony comes with Side Sense that knows usage patterns and even launch two apps at once in two separate windows.

The new Xperia 1 from Sony will be available sometime in June with pricing and availability to be announced later on.
