Sony Rolls out worldwide Android KitKat update for Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR and Xperia Tablet
Sony is rolling out the Android KitKat update to remaining flagship devices the Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR, Xperia Tablet Z globally soon. As always, the rollout is gradually distributed by region but it should be available to everyone after a few weeks or so.
The new update brings the usual improvements and bug fixes plus all the new enhancements and features from Android KitKat, new status bar and new quick settings, new wallpapers and UI animations, support for the latest Sony wearables, updated Sony Multimedia and system apps.

- PlayStation 4 like launch animation and live wallpaper across the lock and home screens
- Revamped Status Bar and Quick Settings – cleaned up and more customizable
- Updated the entire Sony native app portfolio to fully support the underlying OS with performance improvements and ehancements such as Messaging, Email, Battery Stamina Mode, Smart Social Camera, Sony Media Apps
- Improvements in Sony’s custom User Interface and Themes support
- Compatibility with Sony’s latest Smartwear accessories.
According to our sources, After Sony is done updating the Xperia Z line, the company will shift its focus on KitKat updates for Xperia T2 Ultra, Xperia M2, Xperia E1 which are scheduled to roll-out this July.
