While Google launched the latest Android 7.0 Nougat to its Nexus and Android One devices, Sony on the other hand continues to update their existing Android devices to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Sony’s flagship and some of its mid-range Xperia devices were already updated to Marshmallow and the upgrade deployment reaches to the remaining devices awaiting for the update. One of Sony’s popular line-up is the C series with exceptionally notable camera-centric features, the one year-old Xperia C4 is one of the few devices today that are updated to Android 6.0.

The upgrade though is only observed with a number of the C4 and C4 dual-SIM variants including :E5303, E5306, E5333, and E5343, while the remaining two models theE5353 and E5363 is expected to become update in a few moments as well. With the Marshmallow upgrade, users of the Xperia C4 should be able to enjoy new and updated features to Android 6.0 including the new Doze feature, new App permissions and the new Google Now on Tap.

Experts on mobile devices however believed that Marshmallow for the Xperia C4 might be the end of the road for the devices, if one could remember lately, Sony already had a list of devices destined on get the latest version of Android 7.0 (Nougat) upgrade and from the list, it looks like the C4 isn’t in the list and even though the one year old device is more than capable to handle Nougat’ssystem requirements, it seems that Sony would prefer its users to get a new handset instead of them working to keep these users updated with the newest Android version on their older hardware.

But the Android 6.0 upgrade is a welcome addition to the Xperia C4 life nonetheless as it brings forth all the enhancements and new features to older devices without costing a thing.
