Some Samsung Galaxy S5 Plus users are now receiving the Marshmallow update for their device

Though Samsung is constantly updating their device lineup, some people are still holding on with their devices for years and most of the time are stuck on what many believed as legacy operating system whose features are often behind on what’s been offered today. However some of them especially the flagship devices are still more than capable enough to run the latest operating system today. And that’s proven as Samsung lately released the Marshmallow update for a number of Galaxy S5 variants in the market.

Now, the trend continues as Samsung officially rolled out a Marshmallow update to the Plus variant of the Galaxy S5. Worth noting is that the Galaxy S5 Plus is a soup up version of the 2014’s flagship device with a faster Snapdragon 805 chipset and a faster LTE connectivity and boots Android4.4.2 KitKat out of the box. Apart from those mentioned, everything else is what you’d see on the regular Galaxy S5.

The Galaxy S5 Plus was last seen updated in 2015 with Android Lollipop and just a year later today, Samsung still finds the two-year old flagship worth for an update. Though it’s currently launched in Germany, Galaxy S5 Plus devices are being upgraded to Android Marshmallow which is as of the moment is only available through Samsung Smart Switch but as time progresses, it should then become available via Over-the-Air (OTA) update and should spread to other regions as well.

For those eager to receive the update but still haven’t been notified through on-device automatic updates, users can check for an update manually by digging through Settings menu.
