SKK announces V2: features a heart rate monitor and gesture controls, resembling a familiar face
New players in our local mobile phone market SKK Mobile unveiled the SKK V2, a new and affordable Android KitKat devices that surely be a head turner. So you might ask why this device could take anyone’s attentions? Well first of all it’s a big devices and the construction looks premium at first glance, you’ll mistakenly think that its a metal band that runs on the rim of the device, well probably not the case as it seems to take the same approach from Samsung devices a few years ago which features a mock metal trims on the sides but in reality it’s just a plain but durable plastic. Secondly (Well if this was release in the west, it would certainly be a lawsuit device if you ask me) it certainly looks like the Samsung Galaxy S5 on the front and certainly still a direct copy from LG G2 design with LG’s signature power+volume rocker on the back. So that’s how users of this device would garner that expected attention.
But what was mentioned above, does not make the V2 a unique device but what we’ll be mentioning next. SKK V2 will have one unique feature not commonly found on low-end devices and that is the included heart-rate monitor on the back (Yeah you heard it right). It certainly is the first in the Philippines to include the said feature at a very low price beating the likes of Samsung, LG and the upcoming iPhone 6.
The SKK V2 It comes with a 5-inch qHD IPS display take note of the little “q” affix on HD where the display is only capable of 960×540 display resolutions. the aforementioned heart-rate monitor, a 8 Megapixel main camera with the volume rocker and power button below the camera. On the front is 5 Megapixel camera best for taking selfies and hi-res video calls.
It is powered by a Quad-core MediaTek processor at 1.3GHz together with ARM Mali-400 MP2 GPU and 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of built-in memory and a microSD slot for memory expansion supporting of up to 64 GB microSD cards.
Gesture controls is an added feature which does not require users from touching the V2 screen when doing a number of tasks. the V2 enables gesture controls in browsers with Air Browse where scrolling and flipping pages is control by a simple hand gestures. Switch and skip songs when shaking the phone or mute audio, Air Accept for incoming calls, Air gestures and palm gestures.
