SanDisk WD_BLACK SN8100
SanDisk has announced its latest high-speed SSD, the WD_BLACK SN8100. This new NVMe drive is built on PCIe Gen 5.0 technology and is specifically targeted at gamers, content creators, and professionals who demand top-tier read/write speeds.
The WD_BLACK SN8100 delivers read speeds of up to 14,800 MB/s and write speeds of up to 14,000 MB/s, with storage capacities of up to 8TB. It leverages SanDisk’s BiCS8 TLC 3D NAND technology, which enhances both performance and durability.
Beyond speed, the WD_BLACK SN8100 is also designed to be more power efficient. According to SanDisk, it uses up to 100% less power than PCIe Gen 4.0 SSDs, consuming just 7 watts under full load, helping prevent system overheating.
The drive doesn’t require complex cooling systems, but a variant with a low-profile aluminum heatsink is available for enhanced thermal performance. This version can also be customized with RGB lighting to match the aesthetics of any gaming rig.
The WD_BLACK SN8100 is positioned as one of the fastest consumer SSDs on the market. Its 2TB and 4TB models are said to offer twice the speed of PCIe Gen 4.0 SSDs.
Compatible with both Intel Core Ultra and AMD platforms that support PCIe Gen 5.0, the new SSD is expected to hit shelves in June. While pricing has yet to be confirmed, the combination of speed, performance, and capacity is expected to justify its premium positioning—especially for those with demanding needs in gaming, content creation, and AI data processing.
