Samsung is working on a 600 Megapixel camera sensor for phones.

Early this year, Samsung announced that the company is working beyond its current pixel-packed 108 Megapixel ISOCELL sensor to a whopping 600 Megapixel and is planning to include the future imaging tech not just for smartphone but to other devices as well.

Recent image leak seem to confirmed that idea with an alleged obtained image from the Samsung Investors Forum 2020 that showed a camera sensor for mobile devices with the said 600 Megapixel in resolution.

The new sensor will have a 1/0.57-inch sensor size, that is massively bigger than the 108 Megapixel ISOCELL which only has 1/1.3-inch 0.8µm sensor size.

While this is clearly a Samsung next-gen camera, the company isn’t sharing when will such sensor will become available for smartphone devices but by the looks of it, that future isn’t far from soon.
