Samsung clamshell phones are here to stay, as the company introduces two new clamshell-form factor smartphones: the Galaxy Z Flip7 and the more affordable Galaxy Z Flip7 FE. Both models run on Samsung’s latest One UI 8, based on Android 16, and come with all Samsung AI suites, new features and improvements.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7

The Galaxy Z Flip7 features a slimmer overall design, measuring 6.5mm when unfolded and 13.7mm when closed. It also offers a much larger Super AMOLED display on both its external and internal screens. The outer display is a 4.1-inch edge-to-edge screen with much thinner bezels. It includes a Vision Booster feature, which pushes its brightness to a peak of 2,600 nits. It also supports the Google Gemini AI assistant, and you can now use the Now Bar on the FlexWindow.

Inside, the device boasts a larger 6.9-inch display, which Samsung says is similar to that of the Galaxy S25+. It supports dynamic refresh rates from 1Hz to 120Hz and also features a peak brightness of 2,600 nits.

Like its Z Fold7 sibling, the Z Flip7 is constructed with an Enhanced Armor Aluminum frame and Gorilla Glass Victus 2. The internal components also have a degree of waterproofing, earning the device an IP48 water and dust resistance rating.

The camera configuration on the Z Flip7 remains unchanged: you still get a 50MP main sensor and a 12MP ultra-wide lens. On the front, there’s a 10MP selfie shooter. While the hardware is the same, Samsung has added new features, including 10-bit HDR video support. Filters can now be previewed on the FlexWindow, and a new Auto Zoom feature keeps you centered in the frame.

The Galaxy Z Flip7 is powered by the new 3nm Exynos 2500 chipset, paired with 12GB of RAM and either 256GB or 512GB of storage. The battery is now rated at 4,300mAh, and Samsung claims this, along with the new chipset, allows for up to 31 hours of video playback on a single charge.

The Galaxy Z Flip7 is available in three main color variants: Blue Shadow, Jet Black, and Coral Red, along with a Samsung.com-exclusive Mint version. Prices start at $1,100 for the base 256GB model, while the 512GB configuration is priced at $1,200. Pre-orders are ongoing, with shipments expected to begin by July 25. Pre-order customers will receive a free 6-month subscription to Google AI Pro, including 2TB of cloud storage.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 FE

The “FE” in Samsung’s lineup stands for “Fan Edition,” which typically represents a more affordable alternative—and the Z Flip7 FE continues that tradition. At first glance, it closely resembles its predecessor, and for good reason: the Z Flip7 FE is essentially a rebranded Galaxy Z Flip6.

From its construction to its display and overall design, the Z Flip7 FE is virtually identical to the Flip6. It measures 6.9mm when unfolded and 14.9mm when folded, and weighs 187 grams, with a 4,000mAh battery.

It runs on the Exynos 2400 chipset, with 8GB of RAM, and is available in 128GB and 256GB storage options. For the cameras, the Galaxy Z Flip7 FE includes a 50MP main sensor with OIS, a 12MP ultra-wide camera, and a 10MP front-facing camera on the inner display.

The Galaxy Z Flip7 FE is available in Black and White color options and is also built with an Armor Aluminum frame and Gorilla Glass Victus 2. It shares the same IP48 rating for water and dust resistance.

The Galaxy Z Flip7 FE is available for pre-order now and will be on store shelves by July 25. Prices start at $900 for the 8GB/128GB variant, while the 8GB/256GB model costs $960. Both include a 6-month subscription to the Google AI Pro Plan, with 2TB of cloud storage.
