We’ve been hearing mixed reports about the GALAXY S4 successor recently, as Samsung is preparing its army to launch the GALAXY S5 early next year. According to recent rumors, the upcoming Samsung Superphone will finally introduce a metallic casing despite reports of having the same plastic construction as its predecessors.
On Monday, EMS One an industry monitor here in asia reported that the metallic casing for the GALAXY S5 will feature a unibody construction design. A Taiwan based company Catcher is contracted to supply the metal casings of around ten to thirty million units to the Korean tech giant for its GALAXY S5 device while China’s BYD and Taiwan’s Ju Teng will supply the remaining units.
Designed and offering a premium look, quality and feel, a unibody construction may have its advantage on durability and weighing less than its plastic rivals but as what we have seen in the industry lately, going forward with a unibody design means closed construction and this might mean that if new reports holds true, we might see the first GALAXY S series with none removable battery.
Though, it’s early to conclude on things to come, we have been treated with polycarbonate body and shells from Samsung for quite sometime now and going metal seems a new direction for the company. With currently mixed information circulating online, let’s put our high hopes in one corner while Samsung is getting ready to introduce another GALAXY S device that is set to make new grounds for the GALAXY Series of devices. That is what we need to anticipate as early reports have told us that Samsung might come out with the GALAXY S5 as early as January next year, and if that’s the case, then the wait is getting shorter as the days of December is falling out one by one a day.
