In case you haven’t noticed, Samsung hadn’t release any device for its J series this year, that’s because Samsung has official discontinued the series over the Galaxy A series.

The Galaxy J series which started sometime in 2015 was Samsung’s entry to the lower-end market as well as the mid-end market. Over the course of generations. The Galaxy A which started as a mid-tier segment offering from Samsung do from time to time overlap over mid-range Galaxy J series offering on the same market segment.

As the Galaxy A brought better hardware and premium builds, it was logical for Samsung to focus on the Galaxy A series rather than to bring devices of almost the same thing in two different series.

While Samsung didn’t elaborate on the reason behind the series cancellation, the company’s Malaysian arm has a video ad for the new Galaxy A is the new J which tells that shifting its focus on the Galaxy A series, Samsung can offer more improved and impressive hardware with features and innovations such as better battery, fast charging, infinity display, multiple cameras, just to name a few.
