Realme, Oppo’s sub-brand and a front liner mainly in India just introduced their best device yet in their portfolio, it’s the new Realme 2 Pro and is currently the brand’s flagship device. From an aesthetics perspective, the design has strong similarities to Oppo’s F9 and R17 with a dewdrop notch upfront.
The handset features a large 6.3-inch Full-HD+ display and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. A new interesting feature on the front is the dewdrop notch design on the Realme 2 Pro which holds the front-facing camera.
The front-facing camera on the Realme 2 Pro is a single 16 Megapixel sensor with an f/2.0 sensor. On the back, you’ll get a dual-camera module comprising a 16 Megapixel primary sensor with a bright f/1.7 Aperture lens and supports Phase Detection AutoFocus. This is then supported by a depth sensing camera with a resolution of 2 Megapixel. Together, these sensors are lit by a built-in LED flash to brighten the surroundings when shooting in dimmed areas or in dark situations.
Like Oppo’s minimalist design, the Realme 2 Pro follows the design language with less buttons where with only the power button and the volume rocker are the only physical buttons on the handset. A fingerprint scanner sits at the middle of a quarter portion on the back.
What really impresses us is what Realme 2 Pro has with the internals. The handset is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 AIE chip with 8-core processor running at 1.95GHz. This is coupled with a number of different configurations of RAM and storage: 4GB/64GB, 6GB/64GB and its top of the line variant with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It also includes a slot for storage expansion that accepts up to 256GB of microSD cards.
The new Realme 2 Pro runs on a 3500mAh battery and is driven by ColorOS 5.2 that is based on Android 8.1 Oreo. With ColorOS 5.2, you’ll have features like Easy Screenshot, Clone Phone, Facial Recognition, Smart Play and other exclusive features that are baked into the Oppo/Realme proprietary user-interface.
The new handset is available in Blue Ocean, Black Sea and Ice Lake color options with prices starting at INR13,990 for the 4GB/64GB variant, INR15,990 for the 6GB/64GB option and INR17,990 for the top-end 8GB/128GB version. The handset will be launched primarily in India through an exclusive availability on FlipKart.
Unlike previous Realme devices, the Realme 2 Pro will be the first device under Oppo’s sub-brand to become available in other regions. The company will be announcing this October on which markets that the Realme 2 Pro is heading.
