Qualcomm announced the new Snapdragon 678 for mid-range devices
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 might just be the most popular chipset in for mid-range devices but it now gets an upgrade with the newly announced Snapdragon 678 which brings even more features for better photos and videos as well as a more flexible connectivity without hogging battery life.
The new Snapdragon 678 is built similar to its predecessor on the 11nm process but its Cortex A76 cores gets overclocked to 2.2GHz. It still does include an Adreno 612 GPU, while it’s quite an old GPU for 2020-2021 but its performance is still on par on its latest derivative and Qualcomm promised a performance boost on this GPU so having it on the new CPU shouldn’t be a problem and it runs more efficient too.
All other features from Snapdragon 675 gets carried over to the new Snapdragon 678 including the Snapdragon X12 LTE modem with support for carrier aggregation with downloads topping at 600Mbps and uploads at 150Mbps. It also has the Qualcomm’s Spectra 250L ISP for vibrant camera features, Hexagon 865 DSP It also supports 2520x1080p with up to 10-bit color display.
It also supports triple camera system with up to 48 Megapixel and 3rd-gen Qualcomm AI engine for other camera-centric features including 4K video recording, slo-mo recording, 5x Optical zoom and more..
