DOH released COVID-19 CASE BULLETIN #47 at 16:00H (4:00PM PST) on April 30, 2020.

Today, the Department of Health came out with 276 new COVID-19 cases in the country with a total of 8,488 confirmed cases nationwide. Out of these numbers were 1,043 total recoded recoveries after 20 more patients had recovered from the disease.

Out death toll is now at 568 after 10 new deaths were included in today’s tally.

The rising number of cases in the country is highly due to the government’s response against COVID-19. With more and more mass testing being done across the country, expect that the number of cases to continue even if the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) is shifted to General Community Quarantine (GCQ).

COVID-19 was declared by World Health Organization (WHO) as a Pandemic on March 03, 2020 which started in Wuhan, China. The disease is caused by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome – coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV2) with a Flu like symptoms such as Fever, Cough, Colds and in more severe cases Difficulty in Breathing.

There are no vaccines or direct cure for the disease at the moment and the only way to protect ourselves from getting infected is to practise proper and frequent handwashing, avoid touching our face, mouth, nose and eyes. Our health experts as well as the government urged everyone to wear a suitable and effective face mask as much as possible and when outside of our homes.
