Pepsi is literally entering the smartphone market with the upcoming Pepsi P1, set to release later this month in China

Who would have thought that company such as Pepsi who’s known as one of the top beverage company in the world to enter into the smartphone business. But PepsiCo just confirmed to Reuters that it’s releasing their own line of smartphone devices and accessories in China this year. Pepsi will be hitting the smartphone arena with a partner in the business and will début with the Pepsi P1 a mid-range spec device designed to cater the masses.

The Pepsi P1 will feature a 5.5-inch 1080p display and is powered by a MediaTek MT6592 Chipset paired with 2 GB of RAM, there’s a 16 GB of expandable storage through a microSD card. It comes with a 13 Megapixel main camera on the back, while a 5 Megapixel shooter takes the front. Running the Pepsi P1 is a 3000 mAh battery, though we’re still to confirm if it’s embedded or removable and boots Android 5.1 Lollipop.

The new Pepsi P1 is currently set to launch in China for a $205.00 price tag later this month but there’s still no word for availability to other markets at the moment.
