Oppo introduces the new imaging-centric U3, launching in China on January 14

One of the top mobile phone makers in China, Oppo is set to launch the just announced Oppo U3 on January 14, 2015. Rumors about the handset has gained traction since November until the Chinese manufacturer made it official a few days ago. The Oppo U3 is deemed as an imaging powerhouse for its highly capable 13-Megapixel main camera with the company’s first 4x Optical Zoom, this challenges the recently announced Asus Zenfone Zoom at CES International 2015. Both of these devices features the emerging Optical Zoom technology on smartphone devices and their only way to attract users is by their specific features inside them.

The Oppo U3 is quite large of a device featuring a large 5.9-inch display with 1080p resolutions. It is powered by a 64-Bit MT6752 chipset from MediaTek on a Quad-core 1.7 GHz Cortex-A53 processor, it is coupled by a standard 2 GB of RAM and Mali-T760MP2 Graphics processor. There’s a 16 GB of storage on-board, an embedded AK4961 dedicated audio chip and LTE connectivity.

For mobile imaging enthusiasts, the Oppo U3 should be more than capable enough for the standard mobile photography and will give mobile photographers a wider range of possibilities and high image quality at is features a hefty 13-Megapixel main camera with 4x optical zoom and an LED flash. Aside from full HD recording, the new Oppo U3 is also capable of taking videos at an impressive 4K resolutions and that’s four times the quality of a standard HD video quality. The front camera on the new handset is also a very attractive feature among individuals who loves to take a selfie or group shots with its 5-Megapixel sensor paired now with LED flash as well for better shots even at low lighting conditions.


The imaging-centric Oppo U3 will be available in China on the 14th of January with prices to be unveiled pretty soon. Despite the rising popularity of the brand, the company hasn’t made a statement for the U3’s availability worldwide but we’ll keep an eye on it.
