Oppo doesn’t start innovating, that’s what we see here as they made the formidable Selfie series more impressive and innovative. The new Oppo F9 is the latest offering for the Selfie generation taking with it the best features from its predecessor and honing down those features even further to make it even more capable than ever.
As we talked about imaging at this early, that’s intentional as the Oppo F Series as it has always been has been on of the best in the Selfie category which are really popular from today’s generation of smartphone users. With that the new F9 inherits the same 25 Megapixel Selfie sensor from the F7 and further developed its software to take the best shot as nature has intended.
Auto HDR is may be one of the highlights these past years, and Oppo has kept its devices updated to the latest tech that the new F9 not only trickles HDR capabilities on its camera software but has gone ever further and incorporate that feature itself right into the hardware level.
Unlike all of its F series devices before, the F9 is the first in the series to finally include a dual camera sensor on the back which now makes the F Series not just best for Selfies but for also for landscape and portrait shots taken from its dual camera sensors on the back. It includes with a 16 Megapixel primary camera with Phase Detection AF and is supported by a secondary 2 Megapixel sensor for depth effect. This module is then supported by a dual-tone LED flash to assist in low-light conditions and also make focusing even more accurate.
Whether we like it or not, the new F9 camera software is assisted and entirely supported by AI which has an extensive scene detection modes that automatically adjust the camera settings based on the scenes and lighting of the subject and its surroundings.
The display on the new F9 is half a centimeter larger than the F7 running at 6.3-inches and sport a teardrop-shaped notch on the upper center part. The notch houses the 25 Megapixel Selfie sensor and is one of the unique feature that Oppo has explicitly marketing for the promotion of the new handset.
The new handset is powered by a MediaTek Helio P60 Chipset, the same chipset that powered the F7. That’s not as surprising as it sounds as the Helio P60 is MediaTek mid-range flagship and is one of the most powerful chipset on MediaTek’s portfolio with an Octa-core processor and a Mali-G72 MP3 graphics chip. Moreso, the new F9 has either 4GB or 6GB of RAM on board and 64GB of expandable internal storage.
But what really makes the new Oppo F9 from the rest is its VOOC flash charging capabilities. Oppo had made this feature before on the Selfie-expert device but didn’t make it way on the F5, beginning with the F7 though, Oppo brought back the feature on the series and is now even more improved on the F9 with a claimed 2 hours of talk time on a 5-minute charge. The handset has a 3500mAh of embedded battery and boots ColorOS 5.2 based on Android 8.1 Oreo.
The handset will be available for pre-order in the Philippines beginning on August 24 until the last day of the month. Oppo set the price for the new F9 at 17,990 Php and will be available in these color options: Sunrise Red, Twilight Blue, Starry Purple.
