Alleged leaked live image of OnePlus 5

Rumors about the next version of OnePlus device are now confirmed by no other than the company itself. It will be called the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus confirmed them to The Verge and that the handset will be arriving this summer.

Current OnePlus flagship is the OnePlus 3T and jumping the numerical naming convention from 3 to 5 has a significant reason behind the name. For the Chinese, the Number 4 possess a bad omen which is mirrored with the western associative thinking of number 13 to bad fate.

Given that, the next OnePlus flagship device would be the OnePlus 5 and if we are to count all official iteration of the device, the OnePlus 5 would actually fall as the 5th device that OnePlus ever released since its debut in 2014. Another reason that OnePlus points out for naming their upcoming handset to 5 it’s because it is the jersey number from NBA player Robert Horry which is a favorite amongst OnePlus employees.

The now confirmed OnePlus 5 is said to feature with a 5.5-inch QHD display and would be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 and should ship with 6GB RAM for the least. There were speculations and rumors also which tells that OnePlus could even include 8GB of RAM on the upcoming handset or probably as one of OnePlus 5’s derivatives. Another worth mentioning, the upcoming flagship could also and probably will, sport a dual camera module if the image that we see above is true from what it claims to be.

We’ll be hearing more about this story as more information unfolds, so stay tuned…
