Nokia is set to unveil the return of the Nokia X moniker with the Nokia X6. The said handset isn’t really a kept secret from HMD Global as they have already demoed the handset in public in a few instances.
From early leaks and live demos, the Nokia X6 is said to compete in the mid-range market with specs highlighting the trendy display notch on top with a full screen display front.
Truly, the upcoming Nokia X6 follows the latest trend in smartphone design language. The notch on top of the display was supposedly unique until all other manufacturers engage with the same design philosophy. The notch on the Nokia X6 may not be as functional as Apple’s iPhone X display notch but aesthetic wise, it’s a departure from the norms of the usual smartphone design.
The handset is expected to get unveiled in China tomorrow, May 16, 2018, and like all other early Android-based Nokia devices, the Nokia X6 is expected to be a China exclusive or that’s what we believed so far. HMD Global could launch the handset globally that is, if they’d garner significant attention from customers.
But before it gets unveiled tomorrow, a promotional poster have leaked early online that highlights the key-specs of the device. confirming early rumors and speculations.
The Nokia X6 will have a 5.8-inch display with 19:9 Aspect ratio and will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset, and is expected to include 4GB of RAM but there are words suggesting that it will also be available in 6GB RAM variant. It runs Android 8.1 out of the box but as the poster suggests, this is not an Android One variant which seem to confirm its China exclusivity status for now.
Imaging-wise, the new handset will incorporate a dual-lens setup on the back with a 16 Megapixel main unit and a secondary 5 Megapixel depth sensor. On the front which sits right on the notch is a 16 Megapixel sensor. It relates with everyone else and includes its own AI functionalities and HDR photo and video rendering.
We will get more of these and other Nokia surprises by tomorrow so stay tuned…
