Q3-2013-USA-Market-Share-Counterpoint-Research

After years of struggle and missing the smartphone scene, Nokia finally made the fourth largest smartphone brand in the US as the most important market in the world. It’s marketing strategy has been rewarded positively.  According to Counterpoint Technology Market research, the finnish company went passed motorola and placed fourth in the US smartphone market in its Q3 2013 report.

As Nokia gains market share in the US, both Apple and Samsung dominates the smarphone world with 33.7 percent and 33.6 percent respectively while LG Electronics stayed at number three with 8.6 percent but saw a slight dip since Q2 2013.

While Nokia gained its market share in the US, the Windows Phone ecosystem only held 2 percent of the World market with units shipped largely coming from the finnish company with its lower end Lumia 520 devices. It is the first time that Nokia regained its market share since the introduction of the Apple iPhone and with the proliferation of Android smartphones devices  from manufacturers such as Samsung and LG, it’s a bit of a surprise for the finnish company to gain trust and acceptance in the US with an OS most people are not that accustomed so well.
