Batangas 4th district representative Mark Llandro Mendoza proposed a new House Bill 4618 known as the “CCTV Cameras for Road Incident Monitoring Act of 2014 ” which serves the safety and welfare of PUVs, PUBs and PUJs around the country.

The continuing number of criminal incidents and road accidents nationwide gave rise to the new proposed Bill. According to representative Mendoza, CCTV are becoming more common in the country today, establishments, government installations and even private properties are embracing the technology and has proven its substantial importance for security and monitoring.

Though key cities in the country are starting to implement CCTV cameras on the streets, but still there are areas where the monitoring system is missing. With the new House Bill however, it hopes to address the problem and install a 24/7 monitoring system not only on highly urbanized areas but will do in municipalities as well.

Under House Bill 4618, Any member of Government Law enforcement agency are authorized to obtain information collected from CCTVs for the purpose of investigation or prosecution of an offense punishable by law.
