Moving past fourteen thousand, the Philippines now has a total of 14,035 COVID-19 cases

DOH released COVID-19 CASE BULLETIN #71 at 16:00H (4:00PM PST) on May 24, 2020.

Department of Health (DOH) continues to receive swab samples to test for COVID-19 and they are actually piling up. For today’s bulletin, the DOH reports 258 new cases which moved us past fourteen thousand mark with a total of 14,035. The report also includes 5 new deaths today and a new death toll of 868.

As for the number of recoveries, the DOH adds 72 new recoveries in its database which the country now has a total of 3,249 recorded recoveries.


COVID-19 was declared by World Health Organization (WHO) as a Pandemic on March 03, 2020 which started in Wuhan, China. The disease is caused by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome – coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV2) with a Flu like symptoms such as Fever, Cough, Colds and in more severe cases Difficulty in Breathing.

There are no vaccines or direct cure for the disease as of this writing and the only way to protect ourselves from getting infected is to practise proper and frequent handwashing, avoid touching our face, mouth, nose and eyes. Our health experts as well as the government urged everyone to wear a suitable and effective face mask as much as possible and when outside of our homes.
