Microsoft Unveils the XBOX Nano Controller, Its Smallest Gamepad Yet

Microsoft has announced the XBOX Nano Controller, a pocket-sized gaming accessory that brings the familiar Xbox experience into a much smaller design. Measuring just over five inches long and weighing around 99 grams, it is the company’s smallest controller yet, making it an option for younger players, people with smaller hands, and gamers who want something easier to carry.

Despite its compact size, the controller retains all 18 standard gameplay inputs, keeping the familiar button layout Xbox players already know. Its lightweight design also makes it convenient to bring along when travelling, visiting friends, or playing away from a regular gaming setup.

The XBOX Nano Controller features a built-in rechargeable battery, eliminating the need for replaceable AA batteries. It also includes a programmable Action Button that users can customize for shortcuts such as taking screenshots and recording gameplay. For connectivity, it supports Xbox Wireless for compatible consoles and Bluetooth for supported PCs, mobile devices, tablets, and smart TVs.

Priced at US$49.99, the XBOX Nano Controller offers a smaller alternative to a traditional gamepad without abandoning familiar controls. Microsoft says the controller is designed to make gaming more accessible and convenient, particularly for families and players who prefer a more portable accessory. Its success will ultimately depend on how well its smaller design balances comfort, portability, and everyday gaming needs.
