The much awaited update for Lumia devices has now been rolled out in China, Europe and across India with the new Lumia Denim update for selected Lumia devices. It was unexpected for Microsoft to release the update to European continent as it was rumored earlier that the Denim update would be available in the region by early next year. It turns out that the rumors haven’t been so much as it claims to be, this development turns out as an early Christmas gift from Microsoft to selected compatible Lumia device users.

Reports suggests that Lumia 520 and Lumia 525 devices are just one of the first’s to receive the update, while Microsoft have listed on which countries in Europe and what devices are receiving the update, Microsoft made the roll out official as of today but reminded that the wider roll out will commence by early January which at this point in time is quite less than a month away. Users are advised to wait for the OTA update to be available for their devices as it will be available eventually in time and Microsoft is pretty much sure about it.

The number of features and improvements included in the Lumia Denim update are listed below:

Windows 8.1 Update 1

Better and Faster Lumia Camera App

Faster Photo capture on selected devices (Though not available on Lumia 1020, Lumia 920 and Lumia 925 which is a bit disappointing)

Moment Capture Feature with 4K recording at 24fps (sensor-dependent)

Rich Capture – Auto HDR + Dynamic flash

Better image processing

Voice activation for Cortana “Hi Cortana” (for Lumia 930/ICON, Lumia 1520)

New and improved Glance screen with Bing Weather, Bing Health + Fitness support

So are you excited to get the new Lumia Denim update? I’m sure I do and I believe so does you, but first make sure that your device is currently running Lumia Cyan to get updated when available.
