Meizu 16T goes official with Snapdragon 855 and large 6.5-inch OLED display
It's the most affordable flagship device to date
We like high-end devices and flagship devices fits really well in the category but in terms of pricing, we’re always turned off by the increasing prices. That’s a different story for the new 16T from Meizu though, the new flagship handset turns aggressive on pricing, it’s so aggressive that other manufacturers could make a run for their money.
The new Meizu 16T is built in full aluminum frame and glass panels. It has a 6.5-inch OLED display with no notch or display holes. Instead, you’ll get a slightly thicker top bezel that houses the front facing camera, the earpiece and other sensors. It has a resolution of 1080 x 2232 pixel with an 18.5:9 Aspect ratio. The display also blue light filter and is TÜV-certified .
The handset is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset with Adreno 640 GPU. You’ll get either a 6GB or 8GB of RAM with 128GB or 256GB of UFS 3.0 storage respectively. There’s no microSD card slot though which is something more common in today’s high-end devices.
For imaging, the Meizu 16T has a triple camera on the back consisting of a 12-Megapixel primary sensor with a bright f/1.9 Aperture lens. A secondary 8-Megapixel camera comes with an f/2.2 UltraWide angle lens and a 5-Megapixel depth sensor. On the front, you have a 16-Megapixel Selfie camera.
These camera are AI driven and supports enhanced Portrait Mode, Night Scene and Automatic HDR. For video recording, the Meizu 16T supports 4K recording in 60fps and 240fps slow-motion video capture.
Feature-wise, the Meizu 16T comes with an in-display fingerprint scanner and also uses Face Unlock for other device unlocking options using the front-facing camera. It also comes with a 3.5mm audio jack (just in case you wanted to know about it) and you have stereo speakers.
Keeping the handset all powered-up is a 4500 mAh embedded battery that support an 18W fast mCharge. It runs on Flyme OS 8 based on Android 9 (Pie).
The new Meizu 16T is already available for purchase in China on Meizu’s Website. Customers can choose between Daylight Orange, Whale Blue and Lake Light Green.
