MediaTek is said to be developing a cheaper 5G chipset for mid-range devices
MediaTek announced their first 5G SoC from the recently concluded Computex 2019. That processor is designed to power high-end devices but the company is also reported to be working with a mid-range 5G chipset.

The report came from a Weibo post by Digital Chat Station. The rumored chipset is said to be manufactured using MTK Helio M70 modem in 7nm process utilizing Cortex-A76 cores.
The said chipset will support Standalone/Non-Standalone (SA/NSA) networks in dual mode system and will be use in devices with sub 2K CYN price-segment.
There is no mention on when the chipset will be available though but is expected to be ready by next year as it stands to compete with the same mid-range market offerings from Qualcomm and Samsung.
