List of Samsung devices to receive Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrade tipped, may start rolling out early next year

Google is getting closer to launch Android 6.0 Marshmallow which is scheduled to roll out by the end of the third quarter of the year. The search giant had already made a public preview of the OS and is currently on its third and final phase before it reach RTM. While undoubtedly the first line of devices to start receiving the update would be the one on Google’s camp, other manufacturers are still working on the official source code to preparing their own variant of the operating system.

Samsung, as the number one manufacturer of Android devices is also working on a customized version of Android 6.0 for their existing devices. But as of the moment, the company is busy rolling out existing Android 5.1.1 to supported devices.

Recently as news broke out that Google has finally given the next version of Android an official name, Samsung on the other hand released an infographic which shows the benefits and features that Android 6.0 Marshmallow is bringing to Samsung devices, mostly are underlying enhancement and improvements on the core components of the OS like the new App permissions, memory usage tracking, battery saving, auto backup. Not to mention the UI improvements that Marshmallow is getting plus other bug fixes to name a few.

But by early next year, Samsung will be releasing Android 6.0 Marshmallow with an updated TouchWiz on top to a number of devices. Samsung haven’t disclosed any information as to what devices should get the update but source close to the company suggests that newly released devices should be the top priority of Samsung and even gave a list of those devices that will be updated as soon as the upgrade is ready.

Though the list mostly contains smartphone devices, the Samsung Android Gear will also receive an upgrade to Android 6.0 and as development progresses expect more devices to get added in the list, for now it’s something obvious what Samsung will focus into.
