Instagram’s new Edits, Lets You Publish Videos in “Enhanced Quality”

Meta is continuously working on new features and functionalities for its ecosystem of social apps, and their latest development is Edits, a new video editing app specifically designed for Instagram creators.

The app has been in testing, and compared to other features offered by Meta’s apps, Edits comes with much more advanced editing tools. For example, the in-app camera allows creators to record up to 10 minutes of video and publish them on Instagram in “Enhanced Quality.”

It also includes AI-powered features, such as “animate,” which creates a video from a still image. Another feature, called “cutouts,” enables users to isolate specific people or objects from view with precise tracking. Other features include popular editing effects like green screen and support for Instagram’s music catalog.

Unlike other video editing apps, Edits does not export videos with a watermark. This is important because Instagram often downranks videos with visible watermarks, making Edits a more desirable tool for Instagram content creators.

Edits is clearly a direct competitor to TikTok and other ByteDance apps, particularly CapCut, and Meta is ensuring that the app is more intuitive with Instagram-specific features for creators, like in-app post analytics and the ability to import previously saved audio tracks.

The new Edits app is now available on the Apple App Store and Google Play.
