Huawei announces the new MatePad Pro, the first tablet with a punch hole display

Tablets are no longer as popular as they were seven years ago but things are turning up a bit for these larger counterpart of the smartphones as new and powerful tablets turns out to become ideal device for mobile productivity.

Samsung with their Galaxy Tab S6 and the Apple iPad Pro proves that tablets can hold on their own and Huawei also adds to the choices of these new tablets that are capable of doing mobile computing in a whole new way.

The Huawei MatePad Pro is one of the best tablet that the Chinese company recently announced with a large display, smartphone-grade cameras and a powerful processor to match.

It comes with a 10.8-inch AMOLED display with thin bezels and features 2K resolution for that crisp and detailed images on screen. What’s more is that the Huawei MatePad Pro is the first in the world with a punch hole on the display for the 8 Megapixel front-facing camera.

Besides the front, the new tablet also has a camera on the back with a single 13 Megapixel sensor and features Autofocus and an LED flash to help in low-lighting conditions.

What powers the new MatePad Pro is Huawei’s HiSilicon Kirin 990, the same chipset that powers the company’s flagship smartphone device. It comes with either 6GB or 8GB of RAM and in 128GB or 256GB of storage option.

For connectivity, the new tablet will be available in WiFi only and WiFi+LTE versions. Both of these variants comes standard with other connectivity features like Bluetooth and GPS.

As the new tablet is designed with productivity in mind, the MatePad Pro supports Huawei’s M Pen stylus for drawing, sketching and writing. It also features a laptop mode which delivers PC-like interface with multi-window functionality.

Besides productivity, the tablet is also tuned for entertainment and comes equipped with quad speakers by Harman-Kardon.

Like the new Mate 30 series which doesn’t have Google Services out of the box, the MatePad Pro will rely on Huawei Mobile Services and features Huawei’s multi-collaboration mode which allows supported devices to emulate on the MatePad Pro in real-time. Nonetheless, the new tablet still runs on Android 10 with Huawei’s own EMUI 10 on top.

Keeping this powerful tablet running is a 7500 mAh embedded battery that supports 40W fast-charging with 15W wireless charging capabilities and a 7.5W reverse charging for compatible wireless devices.

Huawei is already accepting pre-order for the MatePad Pro and will be available in China by December 12. As for the price, the new tablet starts at CNY 3299 for the 6GB/128GB WiFi only variant while the 8GB/256GB WiFi+LTE version retails at CNY 4499.
