This is what we’ve all been waiting for, after months of rumors HTC finally unveiled another variant of the company’s latest flagship with the One M9+. The handset was unveiled yesterday in a gathering hosted by HTC in China. Following the legacy of the flagship where it’s based on, the One M9+ comes in a full-metal frame with a larger 2K display and the notable fingerprint sensor on the front just below the display.

The HTC M9+ is China’s version of the company’s flagship, HTC has already stated that the handset is designed for the Chinese market and that the company is working very closely with Chinese carriers to bring out a flagship device for the region that’s well-balance and that cater every customer’s needs.

Equipped with a slightly larger 5.2-inch screen, the display features the company’s latest QHD/2K display at 1440 x 2560 resolutions and ~534 ppi pixel density, this is covered and protected by the latest scratch resistant Corning Gorilla Glass 4. Up front is the signature BoomSound stereo speakers with the bottom speaker grill being split into two by the non-clickable fingerprint sensor at the center. The front camera situated on the top features a 4 Megapixel Ultrapixel sensor just like the flagship One M9.

On the back, the One M9+ looks a lot like the One M8 and less likely from the One M9 but carries the latter’s brushed metal look. The cameras on the back was carried over from the One M8 with the Dual camera setup with 20.7 Megapixel sensor for the main module and 2.1 Megapixel on the second. This setup is paired with the built-in Dual-LED flash to assist in low lighting conditions.

One of the new addition to the One series is the use of the latest MediaTek’s MT6795T 64-bit Helio SoC, an Octa-core processor running at 2.2 GHz and a PowerVR G6200 for graphics. It also comes with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage space. If the built-in storage isn’t enough, the One M9+ comes with a microSD slot that accepts microsSD cards of up to 128 GB in capacity.

For connectivity, HTC optimized the One M9+ to work seamlessly with Chinese carriers and offers LTE connectivity in addition to 3G/HSPA+ and 2G/GSM support. Other connectivity features includes: high-speed Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, NFC, Infrared, USB 2.0 and FM Radio support.

The One M9+ is driven by Android 5.0 Lollipop with the company’s proprietary HTC Sense 7.0 UI with The handset powered by a non-removable 2840 mAh Li-Po battery. HTC provides a number of color options for the One M9+ where there’s Gunmetal Gray, Silver Gold, Amber Gold when it finally becomes available for retail.

Though the HTC One M9+ is more likely a significant update to the international model One M9, but as we’ve said earlier the handset is currently exclusive for the Chinese market with HTC confirming that they wouldn’t ship the handset in Europe or the North America or other regions as HTC have already the flagship One M9 for those markets. While the new One M9+ was formally unveiled, HTC still didn’t release any specific dates as to when the handset becomes available in the market but we bet it would be sooner than later.
