Honda’s futuristic motorcycle could balance and run on its own

Motorbikes, motorcycles or any two-wheeled vehicle is not designed to keep itself right up unless one will have them speeding around or the rider will assist the machine to keep itself from stumbling over. But that might just change the way we perceive motorbikes as Honda engineers developed a system that will change all that.

The Japanese motorcycle and automotive company has unveiled a self balancing motorbike that can keep itself standing with or without a rider behind the handle bars. Instead of using gyroscopic technology to enable such functions, Honda turns to itsUni-Cub mobility research technology – a result of Honda’s robotic research and finally has found a real world use of the tech.

Apart from its self-balancing capabilities, Honda engineers thought why not make it move on its own, besides, the machine has already the ability to stay up, making it run on its own would be cool too, this makes me want to look back those menacing motorcycles from Terminator: Salvation, but as of this time, the technology can’t still do that far but it might just be in the future, who knows.

The motorbike comes with two modes: a Regular Riding mode and a Balancing mode, if the user prefers a full control over the motorbikes, one can switch off its Balance mode and the bike will be extending its fork on the front which indicates that the motorbike is ready for regular riding mode.

The Riding Assist technology is still in prototype stage and it’s still uncertain as to when the technology becomes available in the market, but would it be nice to have motorcycles equipped with this technology available in our streets, this might just cut away accidents in our streets and might as well teach riders the proper way to handle their bikes.
