Nostalgia is still a commonplace at Nokia as HMD revived another iconic handset that Nokia ever had and that’s the Nokia 8110. It gained popularity after a modified version of it appeared in the movie “The Matrix” almost two decades ago. With HMD resurrecting the handset, it gives the device 4G capabilities while maintaining the iconic design.

The new Nokia 8110 4G brought back the slider cover from the original Nokia 8110 but unlike in the movies, the cover itself isn’t spring-loaded but that’s ok as it follows Nokia’s original design and because of it, it is still a fan’s bliss and a piece worth having.

The curved slider works to answer and end calls much like the way we did in the past, that tactile feeling that we missed from the way we used our mobile phones before. Besides these mechanical gestures, the slider also protects the handset’s keypad from the usual wear and tear so it keeps them as pristine as possible over time.

The Nokia 8110 4G runs KaiOS, this system carries more capabilities that what the usual Nokia S30+ have as it is actually a forked version of Firefox OS that works with low and limited system resources that’s common with feature phones. You could say that this device is somewhat a smartphone in sense that it has smart features and is capable to take you online, search the web with Google, navigate with Maps and even has an Assistant, Sync your Contacts and calendar on your Google account and it even has a Facebook and Twitter apps pre-installed.

The new handset comes with a 2.4-inch curved display, no touchscreen here though but it’s should be enough for the basics as you can use its keypad and directional keys to navigate through the screen. Powering the handset is a Snapdragon 205 chipset that’s coupled with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of storage space. There’s also a 2 Megapixel camera at the back for snapping instant photos and comes with a 1500mAh battery that last for about 9 hours of VoLTE calls or 48 hours of music playback.

The Nokia 8110 4G will be available this May in Single-SIM and Dual-SIM variants with a choice of two color options: Black and Yellow. Price starts at 80 Euros but expect them to be a little different somewhere else.
