HMD Global’s new Nokia 4.2 and Nokia 3.2 mid-range devices now official

Nokia readies yet another affordable devices for mid-class consumers. It doesn’t have all the bells and whistle of a flagship devices but delivers more than we could hope for.

At the recent Nokia event, HMD Global unveiled two mid-range handsets the Nokia 3.2 and the all-new Nokia 4.2.

Nokia 4.2

The Nokia 4.2 despite the name is an all-new lineup for Nokia devices. This also marks the first device to hold a number 4 designation. We haven’t seen a Nokia with 4xxx something in the past but now, things have changed and we hope it’s for the better.

The Nokia 4.2 with no mistake is a budget phone but being cheap doesn’t mean you’ll absolutely get less. The handset’s frame is made from polycarbonate but both the front and back of the device is laminated with glass.

The display is a 5.7-inch 720p a-SI TFT LCD display with a waterdrop notch on top that houses an 8MP Selfie shooter that double as Face Unlock, Bezels are prominent but manageable with a little chin at the bottom. Moving to the back is a dual-lens camera module that includes a 13MP primary sensor with an f/2.2 Aperture pared to a 2MP depth sensor. It sport Night Mode straight from the stock camera app.

The handset is powered by Snapdragon 439 with Adreno 506 GPU. It is available in either 2GB or 3GB of RAM and 16GB or a 32GB internal storage respectively. It also supports memory expansion with a microSD card if needed.

Feature-wise, the Nokia 4.2 has a fingerprint sensor on the back, a dedicated Google Assistant button and notification LED within its power key. It supports NFC, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2 and FM Radio. It has a dual hybrid SIM slot that connects to 4G networks.

The new Nokia 4.2 runs on a 3000 mAh embedded battery and charges through microUSB. Like all global Nokia handsets, it’s a Android One device and boots Android 9.0 Pie out of the box.

When available, customers can choose either Black and the new signature Pink Sand color options. Prices starts at $169 for the 16GB model while its 32GB variant is priced at $199.

Nokia 3.2

The new Nokia 3.2 brings bigger screen and less bezels with its 6.26-inch TFT LCD display with 720p resolution. It has a waterdrop notch on top as well for the front-facing camera.

The handset is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 and available in 2GB/16GB or 3GB/32GB of RAM and storage configurations with microSD card slot for storage expansion.

For imaging, the Nokia 3.2 has a 13MP camera on the back along with LED flash for low light shots. For Selfies and Face Unlock, there’s a 5MP sensor housed within the notch.

It features an LED notification light embedded within the power button. A fingerprint sensor is available but only to the 3GB/32GB version. Then there’s the defaults including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and FM Radio.

There’s a hefty 4000 mAh embedded battery with a promised 2 days battery life and charges through micro-USB. It boots Android 9 Pie under Android One.

The new Nokia 3.2 is expected to hit the shelves this April in either Black and Steel Gray color options. Price starts at $139 for the 16GB variant while the 32GB version is up for $169.
