From the team behind the Chromebook Pixel, Google brings us a new Pixel device that doesn’t run Google’s Chrome OS but on the latest mobile operating system Android 6.0 Marshmallow in a form of a tablet the Google Pixel C. Built within Google by Google’s own engineers, the new Pixel C is the company’s new flagship Android Tablet with Google hoping to be the benchmark of future Android-based tablets.

Though not yet released in the market, many critics have already expressed mixed reviews about the Pixel C but most of which are positive with credits to the team behind the tablet. As the name suggests, the “C” on the new Pixel C literally means convertible as the tablet can transform into a lightweight and portable laptop with the additional keyboard accessory attached. With one of our sources have suggested, the Pixel C is one of the most elegant tablet to date and is one of the many things to consider as a viable competitor to Microsoft’s Surface tablets. Though the latter offers a full-blown PC experience but in terms of design and aesthetics, both devices are virtually on the same line.

the design on the Pixel C follows the same design principle found on the Chromebook Pixel with a simple and elegant front design to the keyboard layout and functionality. Like the fully featured Chromebook Pixel, the Pixel C tablet is also packed with the best of technologies that Google can put up on a tablet to date. Google still haven’t spill all the beans out of the Pixel C but as what we have known so far, the tablet is equipped with a 10.2-inch display with a 2560 x 1800 resolutions giving a display with 308 ppi pixel density and that’s only the surface. Underneath is a powerful internals with an Nvidia Tegra X1 Chipset with Quad-core processors, a Maxwell GPU for graphics and 3 GB of system RAM. Battery charging and wired data transfers are now more faster with the latest USB Type-C standard available on the Pixel C making it as one of the first tablet in the market to support such standard.

What good is a tablet if it lacks a camera, communication is all part of a mobile device now and the Pixel C is no exception, the tablet is equipped with an 8 Megapixel camera on the back while its front-facing camera features a 2 Megapixel sensor which should be ideal for your video calls and even Selfies.

With the new Pixel C, Google is looking forward to make Android tablets as a fine alternative to productivity laptops with each update supporting vast amount of productivity apps and even growing support for peripherals. To make way for such capabilities, the Pixel C is here to demonstrate just how Android operating system is able to perform the way laptops work with the snap-in external keyboard attachment. The optional accessories works simply by snapping in the tablet through the keyboard magnetic hinge. The magnet holds the tablet firmly that even after it was vigorously shaken the two parts doesn’t fall off as you’d expected and that’s how firm it is.

The Pixel C will be available in two storage variants with price of $499 for the base 32 GB model while the beefier 64 GB variant goes for $599 but these prices are for the tablet alone, if you want to get the full package, then you’ll need to add another $149 for the keyboard accessory.
