This isn’t the first time that LG made a Nexus device for Google, infact it’s their third Nexus device in the market that started with the Nexus 4 in 2012 then the Nexus 5 in 2013 and the new Nexus 5X in 2015 is a definitive indication that Google and LG has a strong relationship in bringing a quality device in the Market.

The Nexus 5X is an update to the Nexus 5 that came out two years ago and it indeed has a lot of changes for the new model. It has a larger screen and comes with a number of additional features and optimized by its new operating system Android 6.0 Marshmallow. It is lightweight and compact and measures  147.0 x 72.6 x 7.9 mm, it only weighs 136 grams and feels right and comfortable to the hands.

The handset comes with a front-facing stereo speakers with a 5 Megapixel shooter for Selfies. The large IPS LCD screen is at 5.2-inch 1080p display with a pixel density of 424 ppi and is protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Right at the back is a slightly protruding camera module that houses the 12.3 Megapixel main camera sensor with an f/2.0 aperture and a 1.55μm pixel size enables more light captured by the sensor producing a more detailed and sharp images even in low-light conditions. Paired with the faster Google Camera App and the fast IR Laser-assisted Auto Focus ensures that you’ll never miss a moment.

With Android 6.0 Marshmallow, Google has now included native support for Fingerprint scanners and the Nexus 5X takes advantage of the feature and includes a fingerprint sensor with Google’s own Nexus Imprint feature that sits comfortably on the back just below the main camera. The Nexus Imprint provides additional layers of security on the Nexus device and enables a secure transaction for online purchases. It has its own database that makes the feature more intelligent each time you use them.

At the heart of Nexus 5X is a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 Chipset running at 1.8 GHz in Hexa-core, an Adreno 408 takes care of the Graphics and is supported by 2 GB of RAM. For storage, the handset has an internal flash memory of either 16 GB or 32 GB of non-expandable storage space which is somehow a little disappointing for some given that most manufacturers today are dropping the 16 GB standard and is now starting to offer a least 32 GB of internal storage. But it all boils down to one’s preferences and we guess it’s up to your needs as to which variant you want to get the most out of the Nexus 5X.

As the new Nexus 5X weighs 6 grams more than the Nexus 5 of 2013, most of that additional weight which really is unnoticeable comes from the additional components for the new handset and that might just be the addition of a fingerprint sensor and the more larger 2700 mAh embedded battery. Also shipping on the new Nexus 5X is also latest standard in smartphone data connectivity and power charging with the latest USB Type-C port. The new USB standard help in more data bandwidth and faster charging time through the new USB interface. More so, it allows a USB Type-C cords to be plugged on either way users want it and still works the same.

For connectivity, the Nexus 5X comes with full support for 4G/LTE, 3G/HSPA+ and 2G/GSM in a single nano-SIM port while standard smartphone connectivity features are all incorporated into the new handset that includes high-speed Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.2 with A2DP, GPS with GLONASS support and NFC.
