We may have forgotten about Google’s Android One initiative but actually it’s still alive and working fine. Rumors has it that Google and Xiaomi is apparently working on a Android One device that’s based on Xiaomi’s Mi 5X. Like all other Android One devices, Xiaomi’s version will also ditch its signature MIUI interface and get settled with the pure Android experience. What’s really a plus in this partnership is that it gets constant updates straight from Google servers which are timely in line with the rest of Google devices such as their Nexus and Pixel.
This partnership will be launch in Indonesia, however this isn’t the first time that Google has Android One devices in the country. Some of which are fairly known brands in the country like Mito with their Mito Impact, there’s also the Evercross One X and others. What Xiaomi could bring though is the latest tech in hardware for Android One, the Mi 5X is equipped with the latest hardware in the market and is expected to flawlessly work with Google for a special and differentiating Android experience on a Xiaomi device.
To get a clearer picture, the Xiaomi Mi 5X has a 5.5-inch LTPS IPS display and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset with 4GB of RAM and a 32GB or 64GB of storage. For Android One, we could safely say that a 32GB is favorable for this project however, users have the option to push their storage needs with a microSD card in which the device supports of up to 128GB in capacity.
With the Mi 5x, we’ll also get its dual main camera sensors at the back while a 5 Megapixel shooter sits on the front. It comes with a fingerprint sensor mounted on the back and runs on 3080 mAh non-removable battery.
What’s still a mystery is that whether Xiaomi would call it based on Xiaomi’s convention or it would give a distinctive name on it. Analysts and experts speculates based on the latest rumors, Google and Xiaomi might call the device as Xiaomi A1. If the place gets through, this might just be one of the best dual camera equipped devices that we’ll going to get on a cheap.
