Reading emails can be tiring, especially when they’re long enough to make you lose interest after the second paragraph. Gmail is making emails easier to understand and helping users grasp the important points, as Google Gemini now starts summarizing your emails automatically by default.

Your email summary will appear at the top of the email content for messages where a summary is helpful, such as longer email threads or messages with several replies. Google will extract the key points from the entire thread, from the first message to the latest reply.

For now, the new AI feature is only available for emails in English. For messages that don’t automatically show summary cards, users can still get a summary by tapping or clicking the “summarize this email” chip at the top of emails or by enabling Gemini in the side panel.

This feature will roll out gradually to everyone over a period of up to 15 days, but for now, it’s only for Google Workspace users and those with Gemini Business or Gemini Enterprise subscriptions.
