Globe Telecom and Smart Communications reveals iPhone 6 prices
Two of the country’s leading mobile carriers Globe Telecom and Smart Communications formally announced the prices and data plans for the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. The new Apple handsets are set to officially launch in the Philippines on November 14 but subscribers of either carriers can already pre-order the handset today with the following postpaid and prepaid prices that we’ll describe below.
Globe Telecom announced its plans to offer the handset earlier or rumors made it so, but it coincidentally went official together with Smart Communications. With Globe’s Postpaid plans, the carrier is offering the 16GB iPhone 6 at Php 2,099.00 a month and Php 2,299 a month if users will opt for the iPhone 6 Plus. Both devices will fall under Globe’s Plan 1299 with a locked-in period of 24 months.
For Globe’s prepaid subscribers, the new iPhone 6 is also available for purchase with prices as follows: iPhone 6 16GB at Php 37,500.00, Php 43,000 for the 64 GB variant and 48,500 for the 128GB variant. With the IPhone 6 Plus, Globe is selling the unit for Php 43,000.00 for the 16GB variant, Php 48,500.00 for the 64 GB variant and Php 54,000.00 for the 128 GB.
Globe iPhone Forever subscribers can either trade-in their existing Apple iPhone device or may pay a cash out to upgrade to either iPhone 6 or the iPhone 6 Plus given that they’re already within their 13th and 24th month subscription period.
Together with Globe, Smart Communications also announced their subscription rates for the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
Postpaid subscribers will be locked-in for a 24-month subscription period under different iPhone plans that Smart offers. Two of which provides affordability to subscribers with Smart’s Plan 999 and Plan 1799 with a One-Time Cash-Out scheme. Other Postpaid plans includes Data Plan 2000 and Data Plan 3000, as well as All-in Plans 1200, 1800 and 2500 with corresponding Cash-Out fees.
Smart’s iPhone 6 offers are inclusive with All-net texts, all-net calls and consumable data per month.
According to Kathryn Carag, head of Smart’s postpaid marketing, existing Smart Postpaid subscribers can upgrade to the new iPhone 6 through their wipeout promo, Prepaid subscribers can also get the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus through Smart’s main and mall offices across the country with On-Time full payment scheme.
Below describes Smart’s extensive Postpaid Plans and its corresponding fees.
Launched last September, The iPhone 6 features a 4.7-inch Retina HD display while the iPhone 6 Plus comes with 5.5-inch full-HD display. Both devices features Apple A8 64-bit processor,TouchID, Siri, 8 Megapixel main camera with 1080p video recording, 1.2 Megapixel FaceTime camera and supports LTE, HSPA+, 3G and GSM wireless network connectivity.
The new Apple iPhone 6 is already available in key cities and is expected to be available in the Philippines by November 14 and to a total of 115 countries by the end of 2014.
