Galaxy S5 LTE-A officially announced: Snapdragon 805 chipset, Quad-HD display and 225 Mbps LTE speed.
It was only been two months since the launched of the Galaxy S5 and now the South Korean tech giant released a refresh version of their flagship. The Galaxy S5 LTE-A was formally announced in South Korea with Advanced LTE supporting of up to 225 Mbps download speeds. It also feature a super AMOLED screen with Quad-HD (2560 x 1440) resolutions at 577 ppi on the same 5.1-inch viewing angle. One distinctive feature that sets the Galaxy S5 LTE-A apart from the Galaxy S5 and eventually from any smartphone to date is that the recently announced Galaxy S5 LTE-A is the first smartphone device to be equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 inside the Galaxy S5 LTE-A features a Quad-core 2.5 GHz Krait 250 CPU with the only chipset to date that supports network speeds of more than 150 Mbps. It comes with Adreno 420 graphics processor, 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage with microSD card support of up to 128 GB.
from the upgrades mentioned above, everything else has remained the same. there is the 16 Megapixel Autofocus main camera and a 2 Megapixel camera on the front. The unit is water and dust resistant as well with IP67 certification. Connectivity features are the usual Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0 with EDR, IR blaster, NFC, GPS with GLONASS and MicroUSB 3.0. Fingerprint and heart rate sensor are there and at the right places. The battery has remained the same as well with 2,800 mAh capacity.
The Software hasn’t changed either, it has Android 4.4 (KitKat) on-board will all the same software enhancements from the original Galaxy S5. Along with the enhancements on its User interface, The Galaxy S5 LTE-A also comes with the same features such as the Download booster, Ultra Power Saving Mode, Kids Mode, S Health and Private Mode.
The Galaxy S5 LTE-A however is only available in South Korea at the moment. Samsung has confirmed after the announcement that they wont be releasing the device internationally. The smartphone comes in Charcoal Black, Shimmer White, Electric Blue, Copper Gold, Sweet Pink and Glam Red color options. It has launched with SK Telecom 940,500 won (around $919.00) and will launched later in KT and LG U+.
